About Deborah / X / Sumter

Deborah / X / Sumter, PhD (curaçao, 1992) is a Surinamese Rotterdam-based circular design researcher, DJ radio host of crispy frequencies and co-founder of DJ collective AMPFEMININE. She currently works as a circular design researcher at the Amsterdam university of applied sciences.

Deborah holds a PhD in circular economy competencies for design (2021) obtained at the delft university of technology and gives (online) webinars and workshops to inspire and train practitioners.

She started her DJ career in 2018. Her sound can be described as soulful, percussive and full of bass. Looking to connect with like-minded DJs she co-founded AMPFEMININE, which she currently runs with Bella Hall and Soft Break. With AMPFEMININE she organizes events, workshops and tells stories.

Next to listening & dancing to music, she likes strength training, thrifting and cuddling with her toddler.
