Deborah / X / Sumter, PhD (curaçao, 1992) is a Surinamese Rotterdam-based design researcher, DJ, host of online radio show Crispy Frequencies and co-founder of DJ collective AMPFEMININE. She currently works as a circular design researcher at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.
Deborah holds a PhD in Circular Economy Competencies for Design (2021) which she obtained at the Delft University of Technology. Next to the research projects that she works on, she gives (online) webinars and workshops to inspire and train practitioners interested in making the transition towards a Circular Economy. Organizations she worked for and collaborated with included Agora Switserland, Design forum Finland, EK Copenhagen and Indeed Innovation. Get in touch with her for inquiries and collaborations.
As a DJ, she has played nationally and internationally at festivals Orbit, Dekmantel Selectors, Horst and Down the Rabbit Hole. Her sound can be described as bassforward, percusive with soulfull melodies as the read thread. Next to listening & dancing to music, she likes strength training, thrifting and cuddling with her toddler.
